Upgraded my site
yahhh.. & I’m very excited about this.. Still got lots of work to do & please bear with me while I also get use to the changes!!! I will be integrating the pictures as I write from now & I think it will look cool. My archives will join the site again soon so plenty to look back on. If you want to read the old site go to http://old.bordercollie.co.nz
You know I first started http://www.bordercollie.co.nz in 2003.
We hope to mate Maddie with Bill (son of Tyler)very soon & will keep you up to date how that goes.
We were VERY disappointed Trinity wasn’t pregnant. We had her scanned & had long talks to the vet & even after all these years.. we just got our timing wrong.. so my baby reamains a baby for another 6 months!!
Winter Blues, roll on summer
Where have the months gone? Back in October last year Maddie & Hoons had a bunch of pups, two of which remained here.. Shiraz (a smooth dark red) & Moet ( light & full of bubbles). They are now.. eechh 9months old. Full of beans & mischief. It certainly is double trouble when you take on two but the bond that litter mates have is something well worth the effort (I hope) ..gardens destroyed & escape artists supreme..
However they are a wonderful lively addition to our family & we love them to bits. Our poor Moet broke her leg & has had major surgery so we have been nursing her back to health again which has meant considerable confinement ..she has not been so pleased about it, but you have to be cruel to be kind sometimes & we were determined to do the best for the long term for her. We are delighted to say she is on the road to a very good recovery & already running as fast as a speeding bullet!!
Charlie & Hoons pups all left home back in March & I do apologise for not updating their new family send offs. We have had awful news from one of the owners who have lost their pup to an unknown poison. I have heard wonderful stories from some of the other pups new homes & beaut pictures & !! Thank you for keeping in touch. They will be getting pretty big now. We look forward to some visits too.
Lily, a sister of Shiraz & Moet also left to her new home.
We helped re-home an older dog Phinn back in March too. I found it quite a sad occassion. Phinn had lived in the Wairarapa & we collected her in Turangi when handing over pups & bought her home. Phinn is Tyler Bruce baby 5years & just gorgeous.. She lives with Kelly in Tauranga now & from all accounts they have a very special bond already. So a very happy ending there.
Pam & Keith who over the years have now become wonderful friends have 2 of my little treasures. Jackson & the other is Kimba who is nearly 2 years of age. She is a big sister of Shiraz & Moet & on their visit last w/e it was pretty hard to tell Kimba & Shiraz apart. It was great to see. We hope to have a mating with Kimba & Bruce later this year.
And of course the exciting news will be Trinity (daughter of Tyler) who we hope is in pup. Its early days yet but I hope to confirm this in a couple of weeks & start planning my time off work!!!! We had some very good matings & I shall update all details once we know for sure.. Trinity has a beautiful nature & such a baby face I am sooo looking forward to seeing her as a Mum.
Pups now 6 weeks
Charlie & Hoons kids are just such a fantastic bunch. All very cruisy & now just live little crazy ankle biters. When we go in to see them in the mornings you would think they hadn’t seen anyone for years.. certainly makes you feel rather special!! They like their food but they are in two minds about eating or cuddles first.. You can tell the ones more interested in food!!!!
We have had such fantastic weather & the one period of heavy rain for 2 days kept the pups & the big dogs pretty quiet & also outside as it was so dusty they all got FILTHY.
Pups have all had their first vet visit. All were very well behaved & very quiet during the trip which made a pleasant change as often the pups can be quite loud in the car!!! Vet said I had a beautiful healthy bunch of pups.. but I knew that!!
As normal.. pups bring visitors & its great for them to have kids rough & tumble them. I am often a bit slack getting out the camera.. but I did get some this w/e of some friends that called by..
Ben & Young have also visited who are taking a little pup they will call Rayley. I think she will share a yard with a couple of other dogs but Ben & Young are very excited about their new baby. We hope to follow her progress for many years!!
Sheryn & Nick have also visited & twice now for Sheryn.. & friends. Delighted she was able to meet up & show off her pups family& especially to her friend Carey who will doing quite a bit of obedience training with them & the young lad…he is a real cutie & a real cruiser so I think he will bring them lots of happy times again after losing their last B/C friend..
Not to be forgotten are my two absolute rockets I have kept from the last litter.. Shiraz & Moet.. now eecchh 4 months old.. where do the months go. What characters.. They both love the water .. & it doesn’t matter what colour or how smelly it is…grrr Moet (the lighter coloured bubby!!) well she turns black from time to time so definately is her fathers daughter.. I had too many other cute photos of pups but I’ve got a great one of her black.. I have included a photo of Shiraz in our stream.. They both splash & play & it is just so cool to watch.
We had Red who is their big brother come & visit with family John, Nat Maddison & Maia. We had that rare moment of heavy rain the w/e they were down so confined us to inside during their visit, much to the kids horror as they so love the dogs.. ALL the dogs at the same time & 2 kids (lively as the dogs!!) & 8 dogs inside is ahhh a NO!!Yes I do draw the line.. The kids loved Charlies pups who were just tiny at the time & also my big monsters!!
Red is just lovely & I’ve included a photo of him giving me a cuddle with Maia & Shiraz looking on.. Gorgeous dog.. & Maddison getting attacked by Moet & Maddie & Shiraz x close by..so I look forward to my two growing up.. Red is very handsome but my girls will be beautiful!!! Gets confusing all these names I guess if you don’t know my dogs & kids with the same names.. Well Greg gets confused so I’m sure others do too.. ( & he lives here!!! for those of you who don’t know !!)
Shiraz was showing some good signs of stock movement so we took her to move the cows the other day with her mother Maddie.. Well what a little cracker.. Not only does she chase them.. she barks too. Maddie is our best stock dog but she won’t bark. My first stock dog to bark so we are very excited.. We don’t have a lot of stock & its all small time play but it is great fun to see these kids in action. They are all so good with all our stock & we have such a variety…!! Great fun little Guys & so full of energy.. Just love them & the cuddles.. well I need more hours in my day.. hate going to work!!
Anyway.. not long now & the mighty midgets will be leaving home.. sad time for me.. but happy as I meet some lovely people & make new friends & I hope they all realize they take on me with their pups so…
I will always help along the way with any advice & help in rehoming if that happens. I just need to know where my babies are.. We are looking for a home for a 41/2 yr old in Wgtn who I am collecting on 14th March.. I have spoken to & sounds like the perfect family match for her so I hope I can give some great happy photos of that soon..
till next time.. keep the water levels up in their bowls & walks faster &.. cuddles forever!!
Charlie & Jasper Babes arrived January 10 2010
Hey happy New Year to all of you..
We certainly have had a great Christmas & new year with lots of friends & family around. Maddies pups were centre of attention and all the dogs slept very well at night after their active days!!!
Charlie & Jasper have produced 8 beautiful babies. 6 red- 4 boys & 2 girls & 2 black & white girls.( Pups available..) She had an excellent birth after a rather shaky start to the day!!!! Charlie’s last litter came early so we were on hot alert for days watching her. On the Saturday night Greg stayed up with her as she was so restless so we assumed they would arrive. I took over from him early Sunday morning & took her outside & let her off the lead… BAD MISTAKE..
I lost her.. Called & called & no sign. I went back inside & gingerly called Greg who had done such a good job minding her for the last 2 days.. so you can imagine his reaction ( well you would if you knew him!!) Anyway he did manage to find a hole & sure enough there she was… a good metre & a half buried in it & there was NO WAY she was coming out. After some time of coaxing her, she started digging again & filling in her entrance & I think it was at that stage I realised I really had to get down that awful.. dark.. spider infested hole myself.. move over McGyver… Oh My God.. Yes. So anyway I spotted her little face looking at me so assumed those naughty paws would be underneath & after some huge struggle I managed to get down that hole(NEVER AGAIN) only my knees out.. & grabbed her paw… I pulled her out crying & biting…. but I did manage to get her out. I had dirt in my nose, ears, hair, mouth & yuk it was just awful…… No more than 5 hours later she had her pups. If you had been in Katikati at the time you probably heard the pounding was.. yep I knew I was alive.. the adrenalin had a good work out that morning!!
Anyway she did have a very good birth to 8 healthy babes, one very small baby but the rest a good size. We spent the first week making sure the wee one got in first & it has certainly paid off. I am just relieved we have them inside in a nice warm box & not in a den where I can’t see or even know what she had!! Gosh that is such a scary thought but its amazing how nature works.
The w/e of the 16th at only 6 days old we had to go to my nephews wedding so I will say also a big thanks to my wonderful baby sitters Anne, Kaela & Lesley for looking after things so well. They continued with the 24 hour watch over the babes as Charlie wasn’t so keen to be in there with them & we appreciate their care. Thanks heaps Guys..You may need a little tuition with txting!!!! We did have a wonderful w/e away catching up with family for the big occassion & also on a walk from Whakatane to Ohope I was able to get in the water with the wonderful Moko dolphin. We were throwing seaweed & he would bring it back on his nose & although so big he was so gentle..
So Maddies pups quietly left the home nest over Xmas. First was Julie & daughter Rebecca who came & took the big red boy they named Snoopy Dog. They have another border at home so will be kept well entertained. Apparently he is already very obedient & teaching the older Border a thing or two.. Go Tylerwild!!! Things may change as he gets into his adolescence -be warned guys!!
Then Ray & Janet took Kaylee. Their young granddaughter Tyler has been a visitor here a few times & its nice to know families where the pups go. Kaylee I think is very lucky as she only spent a couple of weeks at her new home & then went on tour!!! The last photo they sent was her checking out Ray’s catch down South!!! How good is that!!!
Monique & Mike came early in the new year & daughter Melissa & went home with young Osca. We have quite a few photos & emails & I’d say they are pretty smitten with the young man. They lost their border collie not so long ago & Osca is doing his best to make them feel good again by the sounds of things. Thanks for all your pics I do love them & hearing his news… Look forward to seeing you next time I’m in Vegas!!
Diane & Maurice also lost their dog not so long ago & Zac is there to keep them on their toes. He has moved in with cats who I’ve been told keep him on his toes so all good there too!!!
We still have one darling little gal to home. The kids have named her Harley. She is a sweetie.. Quite independant, she has free access to the house but at night she prefers to sleep oustside. On our walks she looks back at me & so much reminds me of her grandmother Jessie. I will miss her when she goes and she’ll make a lovely pet to someone.
The other 2 little rascals.. well they are going to live here forever and a day. Tyler & Jasper were my first litter mates & I have always wanted litter mates again. This wasn’t the plan originally as Maddie normally throws more boys but we decided the time was right as Tyler & Hoons are now 9. We are keeping 2 young ladies & have named them Shiraz as she is a dark smooth red & Moet who is a light colour with lots of bubbles!!! Love them to bits already!!! They remind me of Tyler & Hoons so much. Certainly with the 3 pups here- who I will have to say have moved into the house, it can get a little chaotic but its all good!!!
And I also have a family who sadly have to re-home their red girl Phinn down in the Wairarapa – Carterton area. I have just been sent some fab pics of her & she really needs a very special loving home. She’s 4 1/2 & is Tyler/ Bruce pup and is spayed. Please email or phone me so I can put you in contact with the owners. I have added one pic of her. I will be down Turangi way mid March so if she hasn’t found a home by then I will bring her back home with us if that helps.
Anyway that is about enough ramble from me.. next update will be more pics of liddle Charlie’s mob & maybe my two new kids on the block..
