- Ashleigh & Sandy, Teresa & Harry
Pups are just full of beans & so much fun. Teresa & family have taken their little girl home now& she has settled in really well. They have called her Sandy. Sarah & Ross have also taken their boy Alfie & red girl Riley. I look forward to hearing how they get on.
We have had lots of visitors staying & the pups have enjoyed plenty of play from lots of kids & adults too.. they are pretty irresistable..
I still have 2 very special little boys to home. We often have them out on our lawn with the big dogs now & the pups get most put out when they are sent back to their puppy yard. “We are big dogs now” they tell us!! My Riley loves them to bits & in the morning it is him that cries by their gate to let them out. Shiraz is still Rileys big love & I found him snuggled up to her on our couch which was pretty cute!!

6 wks old
They have had their first vaccination & were checked over at the vets this morning. All in excellent health.
I have 2 red boys still available so please email me or ring (evenings are best) for further details. Both have lovely temperaments.
Charlie is being a great Mum. She will often break into their puppy yard & take them food. I especially have to watch her after I have fed her as she goes in & regurgitates her dinner for the pups. Pretty disgusting but what a Mum!!
Pups 4ks old
Pups are doing really well & I am now feeding them. They have moved out into our puppy pavillion & just love the freedom & room to move. It always amazes me how fast they grow & their confidence just comes on so fast.
They certainly have very sharp little claws & poor Charlie gets a fair hammering from them. I think she’s quite pleased we have stepped in to help & take the pressure off her.
She is a great Mum. The pups are SO cute. Just little fluff balls. I still have red & black boys available.
2nd June pups arrived
Charlie’s pups made for a very exciting arrival on Thursday. The earliest I had calculated would be Friday!!
Wednesday night we went to bed with her safely tucked up under our bed but we awoke with a panic at 1am to find her gone & NO WHERE to be found.. GRRRRRR. We knew what had happened.. she had squeezed her way “somehow” out of our property to find a den to have her babies in. Although at that stage we didn’t think she would actually have them that night it did leave us with our stomachs churning with the notion of ‘what if..!!’ for the remainder of the night. However once daylight came Greg took the dogs out for a walk & their excitement pulled our Charlie out of her hidy-hole & caught!! She was absolutley caked in dirt but still in one piece. She was washed & under lock & key for the day. I arrived home that afternoon & took her (on the lead) with the others for a walk & she was very happy. We came home & lit the fire & she then cuddled up really close to Greg on the couch & out popped her first baby as the 6pm news was starting!!
So wow.. that was the start of our Thursday night.. She did really well & had no problems birthing. 2 red boys, 2 red girls & 2 black boys. She had a meal at 11pm & a snooze & at 12.30am she popped out the last red boy who sadly was born dead. But we have a very happy & healthy tribe of 6 which we are delighted about.
Bill, although some distance away I am sure will once again be a very proud Dad!!!
In 3 days the pups have already over doubled their birth weights & are very content. Charlie had her first little people to visit today & very proudly showed off her kids to them & let them share her box. She is still sneaking off to the deep dark den at night & unfortunately comes back filthy.. I was woken in the early hours this morning with the little pups almost chocking… their little faces covered in dirt!! I am SOOO pleased she didn’t have them in the den she dug out as I really don’t think they would have survived..

Well I am sorry it has been a while since I did an update. It has been a very busy few months for us. We have had a few changes in our world which haven’t all been happy.
In February our family grew once again!! We are happy to welcome some new blood in the form of a little red man we have called Riley. We collected this 8wk old fellow from the King country and would like to thank Robyn & Anita for allowing us to have him. He has fitted in with our gang really well & is such a happy little dog. His favourite mate is Shiraz & barks at her to play with him. He loves people so don’t wear white when you come to visit!! I am working on his page & will have it completed during my time off when Charlie has her babies.
My dear 86yr old Mum who lived in Rotoua had a stroke last year loosing her movement down the left side. (Something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy) In March she came to live in the rest-home here in Katikati. It is lovely having her close and being able to keep an eye on her. We have no family left in Rotorua & everyone found it hard leaving her after our w/e visits. We get a few extra’s in the w/e’s now and it has been really nice. I have to juggle my time around her, my dogs, work & of course Greg!! So this update has been on the back burner!!
On a very sad note..My dear little Moet only 1 1/2yrs had an accident & we had to have her put down. It has absolutely broken my heart. I will write a tribute for her but at the moment I guess it’s just too hard for me to talk about her. Far too young to loose your buddy. We all miss her terribly.
To top things off in the same week we had another near loss. Tyler fell ill with an infection of the uterus. They operated straight away & said we were very lucky to catch her in time. Tyler has never been sick so this was a real scare for us. She is fighting fit again thank goodness..
I am now getting very excited & looking forward to the arrival of Charlie & Bill’s pups. Only 2wks to go and today I have the whelping box ready in the lounge for the very fat looking Charlie. She has got quite a waddle on now & is starting to slow down. I shall keep you updated on their arrivals..
Please phone in the evenings or email me to express your interest in a pup.
pups leave to their new homes
What a beautiful bunch of kids we have had here. All so super confident & happy it has been an absolute pleasure. Once again we have met some wonderful people which makes it so much easier to say goodbye to my new little friends. I still have two outstanding wee boys to home. These two are super cute & will be a handful so not for the light hearted!! Already they have managed to break out of the puppy enclosure & have arrived in our dog door looking as pleased as punch with themselves!!

- Riley with his new family
- Barley & family
- Tim, Sharlene, Jacob with Bailey
- Lucy & Jill with Tyvie
- Tom, Phillippa with Ruby
- Paul & Alana with Yogi & Winston

It is so neat seeing the very happy grins on everybodies faces as they leave with babes in arms.
Sam will be going to work with Marc.. well when he’s a little older perhaps & Marc will be pretty much on site for a while!! Marc’s parents have two of my dogs so Sam will have family near by & I’m sure Bosco & him will be great mates!
Flash is living with another Border Collie who is 2yrs old so he will have a constant playmate as well as Jessica to keep him in line!
Riley is staying here in Katikati so we look forward to seeing him around. Three young children will keep him well occupied!
babies 1 1/2 weeks old
A sea of 13 babies
Wednesday 24th November Maddie and Kimba both had their puppies.
Maddie had her first pup at 12.15pm and number TEN pup arrived at 8.55pm.. so yes a very big litter for our Maddie & Bill. We have 5 black boys, 2 red boys, 2 black girls & 1 red girl. They were all around 250grams & all very healthy. Maddie is her usual awesome Mum & boy she has got her hands full with this lot. If you are interested in a pup please email me catherine@bordercollie.co.nz or phone (nights are best to catch me) 07 549 3131.
Then on the same day at 4.45pm Kimba nd Bruce had their first baby. It certainly was all hands on deck for those following hours. Pam (Kimba’s owner ) was here with us for support & a ‘new experience’!!! Kimba being a first time Mum found it all a bit stressful really & we really appreciated Pam being here to support her & Us!!
Kimba went on to have 7 pups but sadly we lost 4 of them. She has however got 3 VERY big strong healthy babies to bring up. 2 red girls & 1 red boy. She lost 3 red girls & 1 black girl so a sad time there. Her 3 healthy pups all have a good birth weight between 350-400gms.
Two by two they came..
Tess and Pat had a weekend here with their cousins. They are both Tylers kids from different litters. Tess now 6yrs & daughter of Brucie. Pat has just turned 3yrs old.
Then we had Skye & River visit. We hadn’t seen them for a while so we really enjoyed our catch up with those two & especially so as River was here to celebrate her 3rd birthday with her sister Trinity. She also was able to see her other sister Pat while she was here. They weren’t so sure about being left with us & stuck pretty close. We certainly lapped up the cuddles!!On Monday of labour w/e I walked 12 Border collies which was a pretty amazing feeling. 6 black & 6 red. It was awesome.
Spring is here?
Well the dogs think so & we have got some exciting news.. babies on the way.. We have mated Maddie with a very stunning & awesome young lad called Bill. Bill is Tyler’s son & Trinity’s brother.
This is the first time Maddie will have black pups as well as red. Bill is a really big dog & a real boy. Maddie is such a girl & quite delicate & we think it will make a great combination & beautiful puppies.
Pups will be due end of November.
Also… we have mated a daughter of Maddie & Hoons called Kimba.
Kimba is a honey of a little dog & we thoroughly enjoyed having her stay. She normally lives with Pam & Keith who have very kindly parted with her so that Kimba can spend some time with her boyfriend Brucie!! She has gone home again but will come back at the end of November to have her beautiful babies. Brucie & Kimba will produce red & black pups & we expect their arrivals near the end of November as well!!

A few weeks ago we had a visit from a very cute little man named Rudy. Rudy is 8months old the son of Charlie & Jasper. What a delightful young fellow. Thanks so much Sheryn for bringing him down to see us.
And also we were sent these pictures which I just have to share as they are too cute!! This is Ruby. Ruby is Rudy’s sister & was the smallest in the litter. She is doing so well & really loved by her family. Thanks Rene for sending these shots of her to me.
