Puppies Nearly here

Charlie

Exciting times ahead with 2 litters on their way. Both Charlie & Trinity are looking very pregnant & starting to slow down on our walks now. It’s nice having them waddle along side me on our walks.

Charlie who is notorious for digging tunnels to have her babies in has started her digging!!! GRRR. She gets out of our section (supposedly fully fenced section!!) & digs.. Our trees are now quite well established so its even harder to find where she is doing it. I have been keeping her in the puppy compound when I’m not around but at night she’s upstairs with us. However this morning she came in for a cuddle & then…. shot  down the stairs & she got out again.. So I will have to keep an even stronger eye on her and if I’m not outside to watch her she will be locked up!!. I have had her down a tunnel & not willing to come out an hour prior to her having babies & it is very stressful so the aim is not to let her!!

Luckily Trinity hasn’t got the same nesting instinct. Trinity’s last litter was born by cesarean so we will be also watching her closely nearer the time. We hope to get through Easter & then  the girls will be close.

We have  had poor old Tyler in at the vet with what they seem to think was a white tail spider bite. Looked pretty awful but did eventually come right. And also my little Tui gal.. she had a lump the size of a tennis ball under her throat.. Antibiotics didn’t clear it so we had to operate & found a jolly grass seed. It didn’t seem to bother her to much & she is fully recovered now. Tui’s best little mate Molly & her spend hours playing.. It’s pretty cool.

I had to laugh this morning.. I had my canary cage down to clean  & the mirror was sending reflections on the ground.. there was the Hoons.. 12 1/2 yrs old chasing shadows again!! he’s still such a puppy..

A real summer

February 11, 2013

Well I’ll have to admit I do love summer & this one has been fantastic. Not so good for the grass growth & I don’t think I’ve ever seen our land look so dry but it’s amazing what flourishes after a short rain. Our front lawn is taking quite a hammering & not helped with 10 border collies hooning around!!

We absolutely loved having Shiraz’s two pups. Two pups were such a breeze to look after & they were honeys. When we have a litter of pups the hardest part is trying to walk around them & not standing on them as they gather with excitement around your feet. Both Monty & Ruadh are in their new homes now & seem to settling in well.

Trevor  called his pup Ruadh. Ruadh is pronounced Rua & is is Scottish Gaelic meaning Red so a great name. This a second Tylerwild pup for Trevor & we look forward to meeting up again when Ruadh is bigger.

Michelle & Jym who have Monty came & visited him every week which was so lovely. Each week they were astonished at his growth. Pups grow so fast.. too fast.

We miss the little faces at the gate but it won’t be long & we will have more there. We have mated Trinity & Riley and also Charlie with Bill. They will only be a few days apart & pups are expected a few days after Easter. It’s not ideal having 2 litters at once but we missed Charlie’s last heat as Riley was a first timer( then!!) & didn’t do the deed & Trinity has such long gaps between her seasons we don’t want to wait another 8 months. We decided to take Charlie to Bill for her mating because the pups they make are just lovely so we look forward to that combination again.

Charlie was so excited to see Bill she jumped out the car window & they were tied with minutes!! Not even a hullo… I think she had got a bit fed up watching Trinity & Riley & was wondering when her turn was coming!! I shall keep you posted on their progress.

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year everyone. I hope we all survived the excess food etc over the Xmas time & new Year celebrations.

A good friend took a flight over our home & gave us this photo. Greg calls our house the big dog kennel!! This will give you a bit of an idea of our place plus we have acres of avo’s surrounding us which we are able to walk through.

We have had a great time with family and friends coming & going. My Molly now 7mnths is getting big & in fact is now about the same size as Tui.  Plus our two gorgeous little pups for all to cuddle & adore. They are now 5 wks old..eech

Monty will be going locally & it is lovely that Michelle Jym & family have come to visit every week & see the little fellow grow.

Trevor also has come from Napier to visit his pup Ruadh (pronounced Rooah) over New year. Ruadh wasn’t quite on the move  as such when then but Trevor had lots of big dogs to get under his feet. He kindly had them out for a few walks so he was a very popular visitor!! See you soon Trevor…

We have enjoyed the ease of having only 2 pups. No worries about them under your feet & the difference in their lack of  interest in food due to no competition  has been the most noticeable. Lovely little boys they both are.

Neo who is our Auckland family dog has been staying over Xmas. He is so good with kids & we all laughed at the way Casta had him tucked up on her knee like a baby. Talk about tolerant!!

We are still waiting for Trinity & Charlie to come into season. It has been pretty hot so maybe that has delayed things.. I don’t blame them as who would want excess heat on board in these conditions.. Mind you I do enjoy the summer & the heat.. just not when you have to work in it!!!! Rain & dogs is not what I call fun!!!

Merry Christmas for 2012

December 24, 2012

Proud MummaAnother year has flown by & right now Santa will be busy wrapping all his pressies & ready for his hard nights work!!

We are home for Christmas with family around coming & going & of course Shiraz’s puppies for all to cuddle!!

Sat 8th she had her pups & it was a sad outcome. All up she had 8 pups but sadly we lost 6. A few weeks back she had jumped the gates in her excitement heading out for the walk & landed with quite a thud on 2 of the gates. At the time I thought Ohhh ouch but Shiraz never flinched. Sadly the result was this. 6 of the pups were  smaller & although alive when born they had difficulties breathing so their lungs hadn’t developed. All things considered she had a relatively good birthing but no. 8 pup did arrive dead the next day.The 2 survivors were a lot bigger & are now thriving. We are just relieved Shiraz was Ok & that we do have 2 pups. The first few days poor Shiraz had very big & sore tits as they came down in size to feed a small family not the big one she was expecting.

We will have her on the lead a lot earlier in her pregnancy next time.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. I look forward to any photos & updates on Tylerwild pups. Don’t forget to have plenty of water out for them in this hot weather & not to leave them locked in hot cars..

My babies turn 12yrs & my big girl 1yr

November 26, 2012

the gang

Nov 17th 2002 my dear Jessie bear had her pups & what a life changing day that was us. Back in those days we just had Sambo & Jessie..( Now days we have a few more than 2!!!)Little did we know at the time how dramatically that would alter our lives.

I loved those little pups so much & I can remember when the first people came to view them I would say the pup they liked was sold. The thought of parting with them was just too much. I realized I had to harden up or I’d have the lot staying.    We kept Tyler & Jasper & it is great to have celebrated their 12th birthday last w/e. Both are now retired but are still my babies & they both think they still act like babies at times!! Saying good bye to my first ever litter of pups wasn’t just a bit sad it was heart breaking. I sobbed. Now days I still get  teary but I manage to remain pretty much in control & have some fabulous homes out there & the happy people taking their pups makes it all worth while.

Tyler is my princess & sleeps on our bed. I think she has 3/4 of the bed & Greg  & I the rest!! Wouldn’t have it any other way though!! She is always on the hunt for bunnies or water rats or her favorite .. hedgehogs!! She is still the leader of our pack  although Shiraz is starting to head up the ladder & I think would like to take over.

Jasper (Hoons) is still our clown. He has got a bit grumpy with the younger dogs in his old age & starting to slow down a bit but he still plays his silly games of not letting Bruce through the gate & likes to do his puppy dog play with his ‘selected ‘mates. He is such a character & still manages to make us laugh at his antics. He seems to have a permanent smile on his face.

I am pleased to say they are both in excellent health & I hope it stays that way for years to come.

When Tyler & Hoons were only 3 months old I took them to my first & last dog show. Hoons was so excited & got me into so much trouble. One judge told us to go & stand in the corner till Hoons calmed down. My friends that came with me thought it was hilarious & I remember one lady saying to me not to worry (as I stood shamefully in the corner) that he was a lovely dog..needless to say even winning a couple of ribbons we never went back!!!  Tyler pranced around the ring like a pro but the Hoons.. well somethings still haven’t changed!!

Young Tui (Tyler’s granddaughter) turned 1 yrs the w/e prior on the 10th Nov. She is a honey of a pup & in many ways reminds me of Tyler in her mannerisms. She enjoys her morning cuddles & often I’ll have the 3 generations up on the bed Tyler, Trinity & Tui.

Poor Tui got her tail caught on what we assume was dead gorse & has lost the end of it. No white tip anymore poor baby. I think she’s beautiful but she won’t be winning any beauty shows. Her personality makes up for anything else she lacks. She is a delight to have.

Shiraz is due to have her babies in 2 weeks & is looking rather large. She still is very active but I noticed she found it pretty hot yesterday. I am really looking forward to having pups again. I always get an excited/nervous feeling just before the pups are born. There is always the chance things can go wrong & the relief once the babies are born & the adrenalin of having them is something so special. I worry about the Mums & they are my main priority should anything ever go wrong.

I took a few photos out walking & in the morning yesterday as it was such a glorious day. It actually felt as if summer was here. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them.. ps Tyler was as usual off doing her own thing..& missed being in the line up shot!!

Pups all gone

November 5, 2012

Always sad for me to see my little buddies go. We had a successful trip down to  Turangi where we met all the new owners of the pups heading to Wellington & New Plymouth directions. We took Maddie with us so she could check out the new Mums & Dads. 5 pups left home on the same day so it seemed very quiet that night. Then Karen got her Holly in Nelson & Rosie & Bella had their BIG trip over the ditch to Aussie & into Diannes arms. All homes are having the usual naughty puppy dramas but pups have become family members & all very loved.

Now all pups have gone Molly has gone back to playing with Tui & who ever else will play.

What a cute bunch of kids

October 3, 2012

Six weeks old & now full of mischief. What a stunning bunch of happy pups. I have taken heaps of photos but here are just some of the better ones.

My little Molly LOVES playing with them & is forever sitting at the fence talking to them. It’s so cute. The pups are now old enough that they can play with Molly. I forgot I had left her in there yesterday & found her in their bed with them.. The pups were trying to go to sleep but there was no way Molly was going to let that happen.. She was rather annoyed when I removed her.. Hard case little gal.

Maddie also is still being the great Mum & I just love watching her play with them. Feels sad to know this is the last time she will have this enjoyment but I guess she won’t think of it like that. We have her daughter Shiraz here who has just started her heat so.. we will hopefully be doing this again in 2 months time!!! Enjoy the snaps…

5wks & seriously cute

September 25, 2012

5weeks old now and building confidence every day. They listen for us to open the gate & come running to greet us.. All under your feet & making it near impossible to walk. “Cuddle me cuddle me” and how could you not with those little faces. My new little chocolate pup Molly is very keen to get in & play with them but she can be a tad rough so I have to watch her. When they were really little I found her snuggled in the whelping box with them. Maddie showed her teeth at this impostor but that was all.. she is so understanding our Maddie. At the moment we are  trying to wean the pups off her & its hard work as Maddie just wants to look after them.. even with their sharp claws & teeth. Anyway I hope you enjoy these photos. The pups are all homed. My next litter will also be reds

Maddie has 8 pups

August 24, 2012

Maddie on Sunday the 19th had 10 babies. 2 we lost the next day but Maddie has more than enough to look after with 8. They will all be a dark red like Maddie & Riley..

Pups all doing really well as is Maddie. I had gone to sleep and hadn’t noticed the number 10 pup come out till we did a clean up & head count the next day but she popped them all out with no problems. This will most definitely be Maddies last litter.
