Nearly summer.. yah

November 12, 2014

Well we had a great time with all our puppies here over what would probably be the wettest winter ever. Their run was more swamp like than ever. I have been a bit slow getting all the new owner pics together.. sorry. I have enjoyed getting the photos back & hearing their news having spent weeks sending them out!! We had a successful meeting in Auckland to drop some pups off & send the others on flights.  It was a sad day!! Peggy Sue stayed on for a few weeks longer which we did enjoy!!

Shiraz & Riley are due early Dec  which we are looking forward to. Shiraz once again has been put on a lead during our walks getting out gates etc so she doesn’t jump & land on her tummy.

We also helped Alana find homes for her two super cute boys Yogi & Winston. They are from Maddie & Bill.Karen & Steve have become regular puppy visitors so its nice they now have Winston  from here to keep their other bc company.. look forward to some visits..

worlds cutest puppies!!

September 7, 2014

These are the 2 little honeys I have available.. more pics of them on the puppy page.. They are seriously cute so I’m warning you..

But anyway we have had such a hideously wet week its been awful.. poor dirty little puppies its been awful for them. Today turned out like summer. I have taken  heaps of photos.. well with this many pups you sort of have to!! but some of them were just too cute not to share.. The chickens came for a visit one time & you just had to laugh as they are so much bigger than the pups!! My little Border collie dogs.. Lani is just a fantastic Mum & loves the kids.. Charlie will feed them but not so keen to stick around!!

The pups have had lots of visitors (even in the rain!!) & Cooper was especially lucky to have a visit from his family all the way from Te Anau…

Anyway.. I hope you enjoy this lot..as much as I have taking them. They are TOTAL time wasters & you will see why!!

Sixteen candles….

Ahh no but it got you singing!! 16 jolly puppies.. !Now this is the WOW factor.

2 red pups still available.

walk time

walk time

But first not to be forgotten are my beautiful big dogs.. With all these puppies at the moment.. the minute you get up till last thing before bed I still love the time with these guys &  their sheer  enthusiasm.. particularly for their walk which is when I took these photos. Aren’t they bootiful!! My little Frankie & Sue are growing up so fast.. Frankie is looking more like her Mum & I call Molly Sue & Frankie my ‘tight 3’.. they are all such great mates it is cool..                                                                  Frankie pretty much thinks she is the bees knees now.. She is let out of her crate in the mornings.. on the bed for cuddles & then she runs down stairs out the dog door (on her own) .. does her business & then wet feet & all back to the bed.. Very good little girl finally!!

So back to the puppies… What a handful. We had a hard start with Charlie & her pups. Poor Charlie had very sore very full tits. She was extremely restless & they would cry & she would cry(& I felt like crying!!) We had a pretty much round the clock watch over the pups for the first 3 days to see they didn’t get weak & were able to latch on. Very pleased to say we got through it all & now they are doing really well.

We started Lanis pups on real food at 3 weeks after a night of  them crying. I think it just became a bit much for Lani so we had to start helping. Her small pup (& thank you to all those wishing her well) was so tiny it seemed strange she would be out in the puppy house eating. Our Mighty mouse as we have called her  just seemed to stay the same size as the others grew.. But we have continually weighed her & she was growing just not as fast as the others. I am pleased to say that this week she almost doubled her weight & is now a whooping 850gms. She was the first to open her eyes & is doing everything the other pups is doing. She is looking like a Border Collie now!! All the pups live together & she doesn’t look out of place anymore.

It has been great having some of the new owners visit & those that can’t have enjoyed their weekly photos.. I love it when they start to choose their names so I can call them that when I cuddle them..

We are back to enjoying wonderful rain again..poor little pups.. its so hard to keep things dry when its like this..

Lani is being a great Mum.. One time just after I put Charlies pups out with her pups she had 16 of them climbing over her.. I didn’t have my camera on me & she never sat down like that again!! It just looked amazing!!  Charlie being older .. isn’t as keen on the larger mob so is happy to feed them but then gets the hell out of there pretty quick.. Once they settle down a bit & aren’t quite so pesky I hope she will enjoy some time with her last lot of puppies. Its so neat with the variety of colours &  you can  spend hours watching them.. & cleaning up after them.. they are like  a big poo factory!!

I have a male & female red pup still to home. Enjoy the pics…

What a week

August 1, 2014

Very exciting week we have had. Riley is a dad &  a granddad!! Lani right on the due date (Sunday 27th)  had 9 beautiful babies. It was hilarious .. (well actually it wasn’t at the time!) she would not have a bar of the first baby out, in fact tried to jump out of the whelping box. there was absolutely NO WAY was she having anything to do with that wriggly thing that just hurt her..luckily no2 didn’t take too long to come along & she started to settle down & realise what they were.. She didn’t like them near her face to start with so growled at them but after the first day she is being a great Mum… The first  7 pups weighed between 250g & 320g and then…. a little fart literally popped out wriggling furiously at 130g… followed by no9 at 360g.. so no guessing who got the food if those two shared a sac!! So a great mixture of pups from Bill & Lani… 2 black boys, 1 chocolate boy, 4 red girls & 2 red boys.

Lani is being a fantastic first time Mum. They all seem very content &  5 days on the mighty mouse is obviously a real fighter as she has had very little help from us & is always the first at the milk bar so surprisingly we think she’ll make it. She is so tiny next to the rest.

In the early hours this morning Charlie had her pups. We have been on tender hooks waiting all week as although Charlie was 5 days behind Lani she has always had her pups early & generally with very little warning & her pups are always very small. Just to prove me wrong, this time (& this time is her last time I might add) she had them on the due date & thank goodness for that as they were still pretty small.  They all weighed from 200g to 240g so pretty close in size & of course Lani’s little one is the same size as they are.. It looks like she is in the wrong box!! It is quite a hoot. Charlie spent a couple of restless days before this lot arrived .. but we know her measure & knew she was determined to escape & have her babies down a hidden tunnel somewhere.. we did not let her off the lead outside & she boy did she give us some pretty filthy looks. So a bit of a surprise in this lot.. The first little pup to show up was a blue girl at 1am this morning.. .. no 4 pup sadly was still born & held up the arrivals for a while…. the last was just after 7am this morn so needless to say we are feeling a tad weary today.. Charlie & Riley have ended up with a blue girl, a blue boy, 2 black boys, 1 black girl & 2 red boys so between the 2 litters we have quite a combination. It looks fantastic.  I have not gone through all my email enquiry’s as yet.. but I’ll get there once we have all recovered!!

We were very sad to find this morning one of our very dear Highland cows had died so that has put a slight damper on our day. We got Monty & Python about 10-11 years ago & she has been a pretty cool  cow. We have had some neat moments & gorgeous babies from her.  I am sure her mate Monty, PJ (her daughter) & also Jimmie the Bull will miss her as will we..  After a long, although enjoyable night it wasn’t exactly what Greg had on the agenda to do today.. Thanks Greg!! sorry I was unable to help. We’ll miss you Python…RIP

wet winter & pups VERY soon…

July 20, 2014

Well we are well over this rain. Our lawn has looked more like a swamp than a lawn this year not helped by my friends &  my little helper who obviously decided we needed more holes!!!

my helper

my helper

However… I do love them.. lucky for them! We had loads of fun with Mollys litter & as usual were sad to say goodbye to the pups. We have had great feedback & they have gone to some great homes again. We kept this naughty little bottom in the photo above ..we named her Frankie & normally butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth. She is a great wee pup & loves Sue who is only 4mnths older than her. We are still having the odd accident inside but getting heaps better.. I know.. when she puts her head down but eyes up & tries to slink out of my sight, what she is up to & after a quick game of chase… she is popped out the dog door!!! She is a smart little thing….

Two of the pups left for the deep South & we flew them from Auckland to Dunedin. Kara is living with Anne & Mervin in Oamaru & Toby with Megan in Clutha.  Anne has another of my dogs & also her sister so this makes 3!! Thank you Anne.. Chloe is with Anita in Taumarunui. Some of Chloes grandparents live with Anita so she is going to be with family.. so to speak!! Millie who was the smallest of the pups lives with Harlan & Kali up North.

Jonathon is a keen soccer fan & named his pup Messi. I am sure this pup will be a winner!!! 🙂 Frank and his beautiful Blue dog called Jag came all the way from Blenheim to pick up  pup Kate. They arrived during some of the worst rains we had & in fact left when Nelson was also flooded.. We tried to persuade him to leave Jag behind.. but he didnt!! The last boy to leave has gone to the mighty Tokoroa & on a farm with Wayne.

We are now looking forward to our next arrivals. Lani & Charlie are both looking very pregnant & with only a week to go starting to slow down. I notice them sticking pretty close to me during our walks… well more like waddles for them. Actually Charlie is bigger than we have ever seen her. This will be her last litter. She is about a week behind Lani but she always pops her pups out early so no doubt this time will be no different. We will be busy!!!

And it was lovely to see Rex. Rex is Sues brother.

Pups & old dogs & more pups & winter..

Four generations-Trinity, Tui, Tyler, Sue

Four generations-Trinity, Tui, Tyler, Sue

I have  four generations of girls. Tyler being the eldest at 13 1/2, her daughter Trinity 6 1/2, Tui 2 1/2 &  Sue who is nearly 5mnths. How cool is that! Tyler who we love dearly & is starting to be  hard work.. the old brain isn’t what it use to be. She has slept on my bed for years so we not going to stop that now but it means some broken nights getting up to take her out. She doesn’t seem to be able to find the dog door anymore.. Thank you to Casta & Maia for helping with the photo!!

And Mollys pups are now 7wks old.. little terrors they are… I still have 2 boys to home a chocolate & a black so email or ring if you are interested.

They will be heading to their homes from next week. Molly has really enjoyed them. She is starting to play quite rough now with them.  Sue also loves to play with them which is pretty cute.

Its a bit hard finding room in the bed these days. Can’t believe what bad habits that Tyler girl is teaching her family. I had to get out this morning to take this of Tyler, Trinity & Sue. Sue is a little snuggler & this last week Greg has been away & she has abandoned the crate for his side of the bed.. Not sure whats going to happen on his return!! She might get cold sleeping on her own again!!

And the good news is Greg has been away with our Lani.. And romance is in the air….

Lani & Bill have been mated.. yahhh about 6 days later than we expected..  all good things in their time. So pups will be expected  end of July. We will have reds, blacks & possibly chocolates.

I also am helping 2 older dogs look for a new home. They are brother & sister Ginger & Bear.  Details on my re-home page. (Maddie & Jasper kids)

We are always really pleased to have visits from our dogs we have bred & Ross often rings at the bottom of the road to see if we are home & pops in with Riley& Alfie. This time I remembered(just) to get a photo.. Their Mum is Charlie & dad Bill & they are brother & sister. It always blows me away how like Tyler (Grandmother) Riley looks.. Thanks Ross & we do love seeing them..

Mollys pups & our Aussie trip

April 9, 2014
Molly & kids

Molly & kids

Well the kids have arrived  7/04/14 8pups-5 choc, 3 black. Sunday we had lots of nesting & restlessness & I did expect them that night.  However having spent the night up & down & waiting by Monday morning she was pretty relaxed again..Great!! So after a relaxing day with just short outings  the first contraction came  about 5pm.. on the bed!! but we did manage to get into the whelping box for the first arrival.

What a great birth. The first & biggest pup took a bit of a push & a wee bit of help but after that they came out really easily. Talk about a proud Mum.. She just adores them.. if she could, she’d put her arms around them!! So cute to see. I knew she would  be a great Mum as she has always loved all the others pups.. ever since she was a pup..   She is keeping them very clean & I think a pretty happy Mum. She is already looking her beautiful trim self & in fact insisted on coming for our usual daily walk yesterday afternoon.. now that’s pretty impressive for a mum to do within 24 hrs of having babes..on the way home from the walk we normally always spend some time in the creek having a play but those big eyes said to me.. Not today Mum I do want to get back!!! so we didnt..

Greg & I at the start of March had a lovely holiday in Australia. I can not give a big enough thank you to Maddy & Simon for looking after the kids & actually making this holiday possible..  Thank you two so much..\We had a very ralaxing time..lots of reading, swimming & touring around the country escorted by a very good friend.. thank you Keven!! We enjoyed the Port Macquarie zoo.. although I dont like animals being caged in this environment they have plenty of room & for a Kiwi its nice to see some Aussie animals & also some imports! The snow leopards were snoozing but what beautiful animals.. I hadn’t realized how small meerkats were either. No border collies there but hey.. that would have made it too perfect!!

To avoid me getting too homesick.. we did visit some beautiful border collies too.. Just to keep Riley on his toes I am looking at getting a new blood line in for the girls.. & I saw a few I wanted to put in my suitcase..  Sable border collies aren’t so common here in NZ but they will be soon if I have my way.. I fell in love with the gorgeous Thunder & his son Rusty.. WOW.. Now they to me are the wow factor… any way dreams are free!! I am working on one though!! We did meet some lovely borders & I am only showing a few pics.

Another highlight was our visit to see a couple of my pups, Rosie & Bella who are in fact Lani’s sisters  (parents-)Maddie & Riley. They look great & are very happy although they didn’t want to have much to do with me..weirdos!! no I think there was too much going on. But thanks Dianne for taking such good care of them & I’m still in love Thunder!!

Prior to us leaving the last of Tuis pups left- Mila. It was nice having her to keep Sue company for another week. Mila lives with a mini schnauzer called Baxter & from Debbie’s last email they are getting on just great.

Pups Want OUT

March 2, 2014
let us out

let us out

PLEEEASE let us out

PLEEEASE let us out

At 8wks old these Guys were truly ready to go to their new homes. Look at those pleading little faces.. We would let them out on our lawn to play & interact with the big dogs & they would protest about going back the little cuties. Big mean Mum I am!!

In the mornings they would be all lined up anxious for cuddles & play…

So once again I have met some lovely people & my pups have gone to some fabulous homes. Always a sad time seeing them leave but knowing they are heading off to a new wonderful world makes it all good..

Oscar & Blue wont be too far away so hopefully we might get to see them when they are passing!! It was a drizzly sort of a day on Saturday when the first 4 pups left so I did send some grubby bubbies away.. the rain & the dust mixed with pups.. well say no more!

Blu had a long trip down to Havelock North with Heather & Murray. Rex headed up to Auckland & on Monday Flynn also left for Auckland.

I have been lucky to still have Mila here to keep Sue company for this week but sadly she heads off on Monday. The two girls have integrated into our pack & have enjoyed walks with us & in particular both love the creek. Its quite low in areas so a great way to introduce young pups to water. They both have really enjoyed their swims which has been such a hoot to watch. When pups this age get wet they look like drowned rats & they haven’t quite mastered the ‘shake’. So I’ll share a few pics of one of our afternoons outing & also 2 very tired wee girls on the lawn on our return!!

Greg & I are off to Aussie for 10 days – back on the  19th March. Looking forward to the holiday but not the leaving of the kids part!!

Maddie & Simon & their dog Ollie, very kindly are moving in to look after the gang.. One young pup, old dogs.. possible girls coming into season so it wont be an easy task by any means. Tyler who sleeps on the bed…one pregnant.. so all with their own special needs.. Once I’m away I’ll be fine & they will be too but it is a bit of a worry. I am very much looking forward to visiting 2 of my pups that are over there.. in fact they are Lanis sisters and maybe sorting out some new lines to bring in.. so I wont be completely doggy free while I’m away!!

Pups are 6wks old today

Help

Help

I don’t know where the weeks go. Hard to believe these guys are already 6wks.  They will be leaving soon. Tui will be saying YAH>>! Nothing like mothers milk but those nails of theirs .. man they hurt & Tui agrees. She is pretty reluctant to stay with them for too long these days. Not all pups will be leaving. We are keeping a tri girl who we have named Sue. A dog named Sue.. well actually after my sister Sue. Notice the same colour hair!!!!!

It was a hard decision as to which pup would be Sue because this is the first time we have had tris so I wanted to wait & see how the tan colours developed. We are pretty happy with our new addition & also the other ‘maybe’ Sue has a lovely home  to go to.

It has been really nice seeing Nigel & Michelle who are taking 2 blue boys each week. We are lucky they live close & it has been really neat they have come out each w/e to see the boys Blue & Oscar. Each week they are blown away with how much they have grown. You can see the handful gone to the armful! & in only 2 wks!!

It has been really neat seeing this little bunch of Blues grow. Makes such a change from our usual red lot here. The little b&w boy Rex is the odd one out but he’s super cute. The traditional b& w certainly are striking.

And of course our next exciting news is Molly is going to be a Mum. We have mated her & Riley & pups will be due early April. We expect Chocolates & blacks.

A Happy Blue New Year

January 1, 2014
2 days old

2 days old

An extremely happy Blue year for us.. On Monday night the 30th Dec Tui produced this beautiful stunning bunch of pups.. Blues, blue tris & a black boy to boot. Its still pretty much a wow for us… Pups will be sold  on restricted register ( which means can’t be bred from) but will be fabulous pets… Tui is such a relaxed dude.. had a great birth & is a very realaxed Mum. We lost one very small black tri girl which was sad..

And on Xmas eve Riley became a Dad again & this time to Aneedas choc tri Meg & what a rainbow of colours, lilac WOW, blue, chocolate, tri & black. Well done Meg….

So a great start to our year..
